Gut Health

Consistency is the real benchmark

Ventar D is EW Nutrition’s next-generation phytogenic. It pairs an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory formulation with a delivery system engineered to survive conditioning and release the actives in the gastrointestinal tract. The result is documented across dozens of trials in Europe, North America and Asia.

Individual trial results are easy to find. Consistency across production systems, diet types and challenge levels is harder. Ventar D was evaluated in dozens of trials across Europe, the United States, Japan, the Middle East and India, in corn and soy diets and in high-fiber wheat and rye diets, in research facilities and on commercial farms.

Gut Health

Formulation and delivery

0

Antimicrobial.

Phytomolecules inhibit the growth of enteric pathogens across several sites in the gastrointestinal tract.

0

Anti-inflammatory.

Modulation of the gut-associated immune response reduces the metabolic cost of excessive inflammation.

0

Antioxidant.

Plant phenolics support the animal’s oxidative balance under production stress.

0

Thermal protection.

In stress tests at 90 degrees Celsius for 180 seconds, at least 84% of the phytomolecules were recovered. Under milder conditions recovery reached 90%, and the average in a commercial feed mill was 92%.

What the trials show

Broiler growth performance and feed efficiency:

In 5 broiler performance datasets/trials covering 364 to 2.2 million birds in the UK, France, USA, and Turkey, Ventar D improved final body weight or daily gain while reducing FCR. Specific examples include 2.2 million Ross 308 broilers in France, where FCR improved by 4 points and ADG by 1.7%, 364 Ross 308 broilers in Scotland, where final body weight increased by 134 g and FCR improved by 5 points, and 3,200 Ross 308 broilers in Turkey, where final body weight increased by 160 g and FCR improved by 6 points.

Necrotic enteritis, dysbacteriosis, and gut-lesion parameters:

In 5 broiler gut-health challenge trials involving 240 to 1,680 birds in the USA, Japan, Australia, and one report with location not specified, Ventar D reduced lesion or dysbacteriosis parameters while improving performance. In the 880-bird USA trial, NE lesion scores were 44% lower on day 21 and 50% lower on day 35, with 47% lower mortality; in the 450-bird Australian NE challenge, Ventar D improved BWG by 4.6%, improved livability by 15% overall, and significantly improved villus morphometry; in the 1,680-bird dysbacteriosis trial, dysbacteriosis score was reduced by 1.0 point and FCR improved by 2.5 points.

Nursery piglet performance and ZnO-replacement endpoints:

In 5 nursery piglet trials involving 150 to 532 piglets in Germany, the USA, the Philippines, and one trial where location was not stated in the opened report, Ventar D improved weight gain, feed efficiency, livability, or ZnO-comparable outcomes. In Germany, 220 weaned piglets receiving Ventar D were 750 g heavier with a 3-point FCR improvement; in the USA, 532 piglets showed 670 g higher final weight, 2-point better FCR, and 26.47% lower mortality versus negative control; in the Philippines, 360 piglets showed FCR improvements of 13 points at 150 ppm and 20 points at 300 ppm, with no diarrhea-related mortality at 300 ppm.

Breeder, layer, and DOC-output efficiency:

In 6 poultry reproduction or egg-production trials involving 324 layer breeders, 600 layers, 750 late-lay hens, 880 female plus 112 male Cobb breeders, and 2,160 female plus 216 male Hubbard breeders, reported in India, Czech Republic, and breeder studies where the opened reports did not specify country, Ventar D or Ventar D plus Activo Liquid improved egg/DOC output or egg quality. Effects included 4.3 more hatching eggs and 3.8 more DOC per hen housed in Cobb breeders, 9.4 more hatching eggs and 12 more DOC per hen housed in Hubbard breeders, 1% higher hen-day egg production and 3.5 additional eggs in Indian layers, and 3% higher hen-day egg production with better shell strength/thickness in Czech late-lay hens.

Antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and heat-stability mechanism parameters:

In 5 non-animal or processing studies conducted at the EW Nutrition Innovation Laboratory in Cologne, Germany, in Serbia, or in murine-cell systems, Ventar D showed mechanism-level improvements rather than zootechnical animal performance. The formulation inhibited ESBL-producing E. coli and Salmonella enterica at 2,500 µg/mL, suppressed Salmonella motility at 750 µg/mL, inhibited C. perfringens growth at 1,000 µg/mL while largely sparing Lactobacillus spp., reduced NFκB activity by up to 54% at 200 ppm, and retained 90% phytomolecule recovery after pelleting at both 70°C/45 s and 80°C/90 s.

Physiological resilience endpoints in Aqua:

In 2 non-standard performance/resilience trials, one with 2,250 juvenile shrimp in extensive production and one with 66 Danic sows in Germany, Ventar D improved productivity or stress-related parameters. Shrimp fed 250 g Ventar D/t showed 2.8 percentage points higher livability, 3% higher biomass per hectare, and 2.6% better FCR over 60 days; supplemented sows showed lower farrowing-related stress indicators, including a significantly reduced salivary cortisol level, relatively lower farrowing duration, and numerically higher body weight at weaning.

Gut Health

Where it fits

Ventar D is used continuously in compound feed as the base gut health product, typically at 100 to 200 g per ton in poultry. It is the product of choice where pelleting conditions are severe, where fiber levels are high, or where an antibiotic reduction program needs a documented, repeatable performance contribution. Ventar L adds a waterline layer during acute challenge windows.
