700,000 deaths in 2017 are attributed to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) worldwide. Without policies to stop the worrying spread of AMR, the number of deaths is projected to reach 10 million in 2050. Excessive antibiotic application in animal production is the main cause of antibiotic resistance. In Europe, the use of antibiotic growth promoters was banned in 2006, but in other parts of the world, it is still a frequent practice.
Gut health management is a key factor in the reduction of antibiotics. Supporting the young animals’ immunity, decreasing environmental pathogenic pressure and efficient gut health management are the basis to reduce antibiotic use in animal production, mitigating the impact of AMR in humans.
Our Antibiotic Reduction Program is composed of innovative products, services and models which positively influence performance parameters in livestock by promoting health.
